You’ve heard some say that it’s best to start the day with some reading.  You’ve heard others says that it’s best to end the day with a good book.  Well here’s the truth: Do both and you’ll set yourself up for a great start AND end to your day.

When I wake up in the morning, one of the first things I do is read something uplifting.  I don’t spend a great deal of time on this.  Sometimes it’s just 5 minutes.  But starting my day with some inspiring words beats heading into email any day of the week.  It’s a quick win that has a lasting impact throughout the day.

When it’s getting closer to bedtime, I know that staring at a screen will hurt my chances of having a peaceful sleep.  That’s why I always have a book within arm’s reach of my pillow.  It allows me to unwind at the end of a hectic day and get my mind off of work.  Whether its fiction or fact, a good book is a fantastic way to prepare me for rest.

So select something motivational for the morning and something entertaining for the evening.  Bookend your day with reading.
