We all use email as a part of our business communication. But email can too often divert us from our priorities and most important work. So instead of spending all day in your inbox, try these 3 tips so you can focus more time on your big goals.
1. Don’t check email first thing in the morning Few things can derail you from your most important tasks than email. So make the first hour email free. Fill that time with activates that will benefit your entire day. Work on your main goal, brainstorm your next move, or get some physical exercise. You have plenty of time in the day for email, but the first hour shouldn’t be one of them. 2. Create time to deal with your inbox We waste a lot of time replying to a few emails here and a few emails there. But you will get through so many more messages if you can give it your full attention for a short amount of time. Set a timer for 30 minutes and do nothing but email. When the time is up, move onto your most important work. Email saps away so much of our time throughout the day but you can avoid this trap by scheduling focused time to work your inbox. 3. Turn off your unread notifications Too often it is technology helpers that actually hinder our productivity. Badge notifications on our smartphones and tablets are a great example. Seeing the number of unread email on our home screen encourages us to open our email when it’s not necessary. Learn how to turn off your notifications so you can keep your focus and not be lead astray. Whenever you're ready, there are 3 ways I can help you: 1.
